Twelve years after the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the manufacture of automobile parts has once again become one of the country’s most significant industrial segments. The local market for such products is undergoing continuous growth of over 20% each year. Thus it has become certain that a car has become something people in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot do without.
Bosnia and Herzegovina can also boast to be host to one of the most renowned car manufacturers, Volkswagen, which has opened a factory in Vogošća, a Sarajevo suburb. The ASA Group’s links with Volkswagen through their industrial enterprise in Vogošća, and the Company’s contract with Volkswagen for the import and sale of VW’s automobiles, have both contributed to the fact that ASA Auto, one of ASA Group’s member companies, has for many years maintained the position of leader in the automobile market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a market share of 43% in the sale of new vehicles.
The Group’s biggest selling brand, Škoda, is also the absolute leader on the market of new passenger vehicles, with a 24% share in this market segment. Of all the brand’s vehicles, Fabia Ambiente and Octavia A5 Elegance remain the most frequently purchased passenger cars in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Moreover, in comparison with the previous year, Škoda has in 2008 increased its market share, as a result of its continuous added value offer.
